The Get Up Kids Are Getting Up and Going

Some trains are bound for glory and some trains are station bound, and you'll never know which train you are until your whistle sounds. According to The Get Up Kids website, the whistle has blown it's last and they're calling it a day permanently. Things seemed like they had gone very well for our Kansas City world skippers, but last year's CD Talk Show was the first Get Up Kids CD that laid just under the radar and divided opinions about the band even amongst my own friends. Keyboardist James Dewees will land on his feet, being that his side-project Reggie and the Full Effect are in full swing. As for the rest of the lads, only time will tell. I just want to wish them well in their future endeavors & say thanks for all the great music.

The good news, for fans of the band, is they will be doing one last tour of the U.S. to say goodbye to us all. Keep checking that link for dates and I hope to see some of you at the shows. Thanks to My Old Kentucky Blog for bringing this unfortunate news to my attention. Head over there and listen to some Get Up Kids tracks now.
